The estate

A prestigious place in a green setting

In 1840, the Boisgelin manor, dating from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries (located in the lower part of the park), had become dilapidated. The Marquis Edmond de Boisgelin decided to build a château nearby, following the plans of his wife, Marguerite. Constructed on an elevated site, this L-shaped building, flanked by a corner turret, overlooks the wooded estate.

The château was converted into a hotel by Marquis Gilles de Boisgelin in 1982, followed by the opening of a golf course to the public.

Michael, son of Gilles de Boisgelin, chose to continue his father’s work to enhance this magnificent Breton estate. Guided by a 17th century painting showing the property as it appeared at that time, the manor’s surroundings were restored, significant work was carried out to recreate forest walking paths, the vegetable garden was returned to its original purpose and all masonry walls were repaired.

At the heart of Goëlo, a region of Brittany where land meets sea, the Boisgelin family opens the doors of their 450 hectare estate to share its treasures.

The estate features a historic manor (classified ISMH), a large protected forest (ZNIEFF – Zone of Ecological, Faunal, and Floral Interest), and numerous walking and cycling trails, making it a true haven of greenery and an exceptional destination.

Just a short distance from many renowned sites, the estate enjoys an outstanding tourist location:

  • Paimpol and its Picturesque Terre-Neuvas Harbor
  • Île de Bréhat, known for its lush vegetation
  • Beauport Abbey, offering 800 years of maritime history
  • Plouha Cliff, the highest in Brittany
  • Château de La Roche Jagu, a Treasure of the Argoat

Just to mention a few…

Boisgelin: A Setting for Your Passion

During your stay, you’ll no doubt be tempted to extend the delight by practicing your swing on the estate’s golf course, enjoying the peaceful greenery of the Goëlo region.

Although the course itself is just over thirty years old, the estate on which it sits has been owned by the Boisgelin family since 1166, nearly eight and a half centuries.

The layout stretches across an open site within a 90-hectare wooded park, flanked on one side by the château and on the other by a majestic 15th-century manor. While the centuries-old trees are not in play, the 12-hole course is quite technical due to its terrain undulations and water features.

Golf Gilles de Boisgelin is renowned as one of the finest courses in the department. Perfectly maintained, it offers a route suitable for both experienced golfers and beginners alike. The course also sets an example in sustainable management, being maintained without pesticides or glyphosates.
